And the Winner is...
Iraq war movie The Hurt Locker has won the Oscar for best picture just after its director Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win the best director trophy. The night's biggest Oscar champion also won best original screenplay.
Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock scooped the best actress Oscar and her first Academy Award for her role as a mother who takes in a homeless black teen and guides him to a football career in The Blind Side.
Moments earlier, Jeff Bridges won a best actor Oscar, also his first ever Academy Award, for his role in Crazy Heart as a drunken country singer who finds redemption.
The brother of Beau Bridges and the son of screen star Lloyd Bridges, the actor has been previously nominated for an Oscar four times but had never walked away with the award.
British winners included Ray Beckett, who won for sound editing and mixing on Hurt Locker, and The Young Victoria costume designer Sandy Powell.
